![]() ![]() ![]() One of the most important aspects of Google's data security is the 'Sharded Architecture' of the platform. Meaning government organisations can be confident that the security standards meet and in many cases exceed those required for use. The platform meets a number of security standards including HIPAA for Health Records and the US Federal FISMA Certification (Medium). The security team regularly challenges Hackers to identify weaknesses or vulnerabilities, and to date, has maintained an impressive record for that security. That is a significant investment in it's resilience and hardening to intrusion. Google has over 450 PHDs looking after the security of this platform. 2) The Drive Platform's Security is Unparalleled And at US$10 per user per month, this will be even harder to beat by Google's competitors. This is most likely the main factor that makes this offering a Global Game Changer, and it leads to several of the points below, as an infrastructure planner for an organisation no longer needs to consider the constraints of storage and archiving and backups.īecause of the nature of Google's need for storage and how the vendor started producing low cost storage for their own purposes at scale, this will be very difficult for other vendors to match. The maximum size for any single file is 5 Terrabytes! It is completely unlimited for users to store files on this platform. I have spoken with their Global Strategist for this product and discussed how organisations might be concerned with "Fair Use" terms and conditions, and his response was, that was considered and the decision was made to truly unfetter the storage limitations. ![]()
